Mosselrace Oosterschelde
Sailors,

The Mosselrace takes place on the Oosterschelde, tidal waters near the Dutch coast. You are cordially invited to join the “Mosselrace” in Yerseke on the Oosterschelde in August.

This yearly event is celebrating the season start of the fabulous Yerseke mussel culture. Over 100 yachts in various categories start in different classes IRC 1-2, or according the SW system with or without spinnaker. The race starts around 10:00 and finishes around 15:00. In the evening mussel and drinks are included in the party tent in the harbor.

When/How Long?

Leave the Friday before the race in the evening. We enjoy a nice meal in one of the Yerseke restaurants and enjoy a drink in the club house. Sleep overnight on one of the yachts. Next morning Saturday, prepare for the race around 9:00. Categories starting is around 10:00. Back in port at 16:00.

The evening program starts at 19:00 with free Mossul. Return to Veldhoven on Sunday morning.

Who?

This event is open for both ASML sailing club (ASCN) and Philips zeilvereniging (PZV) members.

Your placement depends on the number of yachts joining and places available.

Where?

Yerseke is found in the Dutch province of Zeeland, about 1:30 drive from Eindhoven. The village and it’s port are dominated by the mussel, oyster, lobster industry. In addition Yerseke is a pleasant village for tourism and gatherings of all sorts.

How Much?

The event is sponsored by the Yerseke promotion for its mussels. The participation fee including the evening meal cost only 40 Euros per crew. Drinks are at own expense. The transportation by private car, parking tickets and evening meal will be claimed later. Total cost is approximately 50 Euro per person.
